Valentines Day Gifts
The last few days have been pretty productive for me (sewing wise)..... I made my sister Timmi a Valentines Day ROUND table runner that she needed for her coffee table. She requested a custom size - and this is HER VALENTINE FABRIC THEME - it is the fabric that Mommy used in the past to make Timmi her other Valentines Day diningroom and kitchen table runners. Timmi loves BROWN (I do too) - so she loves this pink & brown Valentines fabric for her home! She needed a 25" round table topper for her livingroom coffee table - so this is what I came up with. I just used the "wheel of fortune" quilting block for the pattern and just left off the corner pieces that make it a square!
The flash really messes with the red, sorry about that.
I also went over to Mommy's yesterday and she taught me how to make her Towel Toppers!!! Mommy cut her finger with her rotary cutter the other day, so her finger is all bandaged up :( I feel so bad for her - it hurts her pretty bad and she keeps banging it on stuff which makes it hurts even worse :( But she is a trooper and keeps right on sewing and crocheting! LOL I'm thankful that she was able to give me another sewing lesson! Thank you Mommy!!! So I made a pair of these towel toppers for my neighbors! I might make a small table runner to match.... we will see. Mommy hates the fabric - she doesnt like the BLACK in the valentine print - but I like it - and I hope my neighbors like it too! LOL

Penelope - My Fabric Fairy
I would like to introduce to everyone my new Fabric Fairy - her name is Penelope! She guards and protects my fabric in my quilting room! Can you believe my Mommy made her? I am totally impressed!! She was a TOTAL surprise to me! Everytime I would go to Mommy's to visit, Mommy had to hide her! I just love her! She made her hair from plain straight yarn - she curled her hair and had to bake it in the oven to "set it" LOL She hand stitched her face and even applied a little blush to her cheeks! :) She is just so precious! What an amazing gift!!! Thank you Mommy VERY MUCH!!!

Mini quilt rack - Valentine's Day mini quilt
My older sister Tricia bought me this MINI quilt rack for my birthday last year and this is the first mini quilt I've made for it! I'm such a slacker! LOL
But I do deserve some 'cudos' because I told Mommy that one of the things that I AM GOING TO attempt this year is PAPER PIECING!! And I am very pleased to announce that these two heart blocks (simple as they are) are my very first paper pieced quit blocks!! It's only January and I have marked ANOTHER accomplishment off my list! :) I've been curious about paper piecing for a long time - I've bought books - watched videos etc etc - but I just "didn't get it"! I'm anxious to do some more to see if I can get a little more efficient with it!

Made me a Quilting Apron
Thanks to Mommy & Liz -- I got a boost of confidence that maybe I can actually sew stuff other than just QUILTS! :) HA HA HA Take a look at the Quilting Apron that I made today! Notice - It's just about the same as 1/2 a couch caddy (same design concept) - ONLY MUCH BIGGER!!! LOL I use a quilting apron very often - but I just had a plain canvas craft apron for my quilting apron -- now I have a more personalized one THAT I MADE!! Whoo HOOO !!!! Oh yea - I'm feelin it! LOL

Arm Chair Caddy
WHOOP WHOOP!!!!! I am SOOO EXCITED! Look what I made?!?!?!?! It's a sewing arm chair caddy! I'm thinking back and I really think this is the FIRST thing that I sew'd!! Most people who quilt know how to sew too - NOT ME! I never learned how to sew (stuff, clothes etc)... but for some reason quilting (simple quilting) is do'able for me!!! Sewing is a WHOLE OTHER ANIMAL!! LOL Cutting out patterns etc -it's just different - at least it is to me! :) Anyway - needless to say - I AM quite excited about this. I joined a lady's blog that is a friend of Mommy's named Liz. She started this "Sewing Room Sew Along" on her blog. Every month we are going to sew something different and this is the first month!!
OK -- two things I am going to mention. The first is to relieve my conscience (LOL)..... Mommy came over today to help me learn how to do this project! She guided me through each step - BUT I REALLY DID DO IT on my own :) Without her help though - I would probably be still reading the directions saying "huh"? LOL And second, I KNOW I KNOW that the binding is really bad - but it's my first binding on a curve!! LOL That is MUCH harder for an inexperienced sewer! :)
I am going to attach pictures here so you can see! I made mine to blend with the livingroom instead of my quilt room because it is intended to be used on a chair - like while you are away from your sewing machine!! LOL
